Solemnity of All Saints

Massimo Palombella

Giotto di Bondone, Virgin and Child enthroned, surrounded by angels and saints, 1310 ca (Galleria degli Uffizi, Firenze)

The Communion antiphon for today’s celebration is taken from chapter five of Matthew’s Gospel (Mt 5, 8. 9. 10) with the following text:
“Beati mundo corde: quoniam ipsi Deum videbunt.
Beati pacifici: quoniam filii Dei vocabuntur.
Beati qui persecutionem patiuntur propter justitiam: quoniam ipsorum est regnum caelorum.”

(Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God;
blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God;
blessed are those who suffer persecution for the sake of justice, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven).

The attached music, in Gregorian Chant, is taken from the Graduale Triplex published in Solesmes in 1979. The music track can be found on YouTube where there is no indication of interpretation.

A blessed Solemnity and heartfelt greetings.
