Fourth Sunday of Easter time/C
Massimo Palombella

In today’s Gospel (Jn 10:27-30) Jesus claims to know his sheep, and that the same sheep will never be lost because no one will snatch them from his hand.
To slowly mature the existential awareness of being known by the Lord, of “belonging” to the Lord in such a profound way that nothing and no one can tear me away from him is the nucleus of true stability in life. It is a profound awareness that we lose and regain. It is a relationship that, amidst many difficulties, keeps us alive, pushes us to mature – at every age of life – leads us back to the truth when we go astray. It is a faithful relationship, which remains even when we lose our way, which awaits us to love us exactly as we need, to lead us again “to the fountains of the waters of life” and “to wipe away every tear from our eyes”. (Rev 7:17)
The text of the first Alleluia of today’s celebration is taken from Psalm 110 (Ps 110:9) with the following text:
Alleluia. Redemptionem misit Dominus in populo suo.
(Alleluia. The Lord has sent deliverance to his people).
The attached music, in Gregorian Chant, is taken from the Graduale Triplex published in Solesmes in 1979. The interpretation is by the “Schola des Pères du Saint-Esprit de Chevilly” conducted by Lucien Deiss. The music track can be found on the CD “Paroles de Dieu” published by ADF-Studio SM in 2009.
A blessed Sunday and heartfelt greetings.
